CPA Backs Rethinking Futures Initiative

The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA), the largest trade association for the plant-hire sector in the UK with almost 2,000 members, is delighted to support Rethinking Futures which will form part of PlantWorx 2025 being held at Newark Showground on 23-25 September.

As part of the CPA’s support of the event, CPA Chief Executive Officer Steve Mulholland and CPA Technical Publications and Careers Manager Katie Kelleher will help judge the practical challenge where students will design and build a piece of machinery.

CPA CEO Steve Mulholland said: “Rethinking Futures is a fantastic initiative which will really help highlight the exciting career opportunities available within the plant-hire industry. The event will provide a brilliant platform for the industry to connect with school children and college students and tell them more about potential career paths.

“Our industry really does offer jobs for life and it’s crucial that we make sure these career opportunities don’t fall under the radar. Katie and myself are really looking forward to being part of the judging panel for the practical challenge, where students will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

“At the CPA we’re heavily involved in developing construction plant-based apprenticeship schemes for multiple job roles, such as Plant Mechanics, Plant Operators and Hire Controllers. Our flagship event - the CPA Stars of the Future Awards - also recognises and rewards apprentices and trainees in our industry, so Rethinking Futures has great synergies with the work we are carrying out to address skills shortages and attract new talent to our industry,” he added.
